Account & data deletion
Delete your account — and know what it does.
Delete your Afar account
- Go to your account page and sign in with Apple or Google.
- Under Delete account, read what deleting does, tick the box, and choose delete.
- If you sign in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm once more. This proves it’s you and lets Afar remove its Sign in with Apple access. Google-only accounts are deleted straight away.
Deletion takes effect immediately, and the page confirms it on screen.
What deleting does
- Your plan. Any subscription or free trial is cancelled immediately, not at the end of the billing period, and deleting doesn’t by itself refund the time left. If you’d rather keep the plan until the period ends, cancel it on your account page instead of deleting.
- Signing in. Sign in with Apple access for Afar is revoked, and every signed-in session on every device ends.
- Afar’s records. Your account, plan status, Apple and Google sign-in identities, sessions, stolen-device (panic) records and any half-finished sign-ins are deleted.
- What’s kept. Stripe keeps its own payment records, which Afar can’t delete. Afar keeps the record of your agreement to automatic renewal and the billing emails it sent you about it, for as long as the law requires (at least three years), and the IDs of Stripe payment events with your account removed from them, so an event is never applied twice. No further billing emails are sent. Afar’s database host keeps restorable copies for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from those too.
- Your computers. Pairings, terminal sessions and files on your own computers stay there: deleting the account doesn’t wipe your Mac. Remove them as described below.
- If you delete your Apple ID. If Sign in with Apple was your only way to sign in, Apple tells Afar and we delete your account the same way.
Signing in again later starts a new, free account.
Remove local pairings and on-device data (no account required)
- Remove the device on your computer. Open the Afar service on the computer the app is paired with and remove the paired device. This deletes the pairing on the computer side, and the credential stored on your device can no longer connect to that computer.
- Delete the app. Remove Afar from your phone, tablet or computer. The operating system may retain some secure-storage items, so remove the paired device on your computer as well.
- Delete anything on your own computer you no longer want. Terminal sessions, files and job receipts live on the computer you paired with — never on our systems — and you can delete them there like any other local files.
- Ask us to delete email you sent us. If you wrote to hello@fromafar.app, write from the email address you used and ask us to delete the correspondence.
If you can’t sign in
Write to hello@fromafar.app from the email address on your Apple or Google account. We’ll confirm it’s you without asking for passwords. Please don’t send passwords, recovery keys or pairing credentials.
